Herbal Apocethary Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is charcoal that has been treated with oxygen at very high temperatures to create an even more porous substance 

Doing so changes the structure reducing the size of its pores and increasing its surface area. 

What does this mean?

Activated charcoal creates millions of microscopic bonding sites that trap unwanted chemicals, toxins, and impurities through a process called adsorption which can be beneficial  for the air, skin and/or body. 

Keep in mind research is limited and always consult your doctor before trying natural/herbal remedies. 

Also, keep in mind activated charcoal can interact with certain medications and decrease or even stop the medications efficacy. 

Many people use activated charcoal for these purposes: 

- In body care products. It can be added to skin or hair care  products like face masks, shampoos or soaps to help control excess sebum or to  help with scalp congestion 

- in dental care products but be aware it is very gritty and if you are using it to make your own dental care product it could scratch the surface of your teeth if not done properly. 

-Some limited studies have shown promise to help lower cholesterol and help with optimal kidney function.
